Storybook Island - Rapid City, South Dakota
This is a free park in Rapid City whre you can meet Humpty Dumpty, Pinnochio and other favorite childhood characters. Nursery rhymes and Fairytales come to life in animated and real life scenes.

Storybook Island is a magical place that includes a children’s theatre featuring live performances, 140+ fairytale sets, playground equipment, a train ride, concessions and one of Rapid City’s best gift shops.

There is NO charge to enter Storybook Island, play on the equipment, or attend the theatre performances. Each train ride is $.75 per rider to cover maintenance costs.

The Rotary Clubs of Rapid City and free will donations support this park.

Storybook Island operates during the summer season from the Saturday preceding Memorial Day until Labor Day, seven days a week from 9:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening. In addition, the park is open for the Christmas Lighting season. It operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting on the Friday after Thanksgiving through New Years Eve. There is a $1 per person admission fee for the Christmas Lighting.

Storybook Island Children’s Theater has been an integral part of the park since 1959 and has since produced thousands of hours of entertainment for young people. The Storybook Island Children’s Theatre is one of the largest children’s theaters in a five-state region. Each year the theater is the scene of varied activities and plays.
