Giant Concrete Prairie Dog – Cactus Flats – Interior, South Dakota

This delightful Giant Concrete Prairie Dog is on the outskirts of you trip to the Badlands. The giant prairie dog stands sentinel for a colony of very obese hand-fed prairie dogs located outside of The Ranch Store.

Inside the store you can buy peanuts to feed the prairie dogs, which you will notice are quite "healthy" looking. The prairie dogs have taken over the land behind the store and make an interesting visit on your way to other fabulous sites at the Badland National Park.

Created by Harold Zundel, Mitchell, South Dakota, 1951 this piece of art is not far from Wall Drug, which is another stop you probably want to make on your trip.

Location: Hwy 240 Badlands Loop, Cactus Flats – Interior, SD

Directions: Hwy 240, South of I-90 at exit 131.
