Built in 1887 at the close of the Civil War, the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) built the hall as the permanent home of General Phil Kearney in Yankton, South Dakota.

The GAR Hall served as a meeting place for Civil War veterans and their auxiliary. It is one of the few remaining of its kind in the United States. In 1999, the Yankton Area Arts Association purchased the building and launched a major renovation. Today, the GAR Hall is a beautiful art gallery and home to the Yankton Area Arts. New art exhibits are displayed each month in this historic site.

Open weekdays from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
