South Dakota State Fair – Huron, South Dakota
The South Dakota State Fair is an annual event with top name entertainment, livestock shows, carnival rides, exhibitors showing the latest in a wide range of goods and services. If you are interested in spending time at the fair you will want to check their website since they have not, as of yet, posted the latest plans for the upcoming fair, but you can bet it will be outstanding!
South Dakota has one of the largest agricultural fairs in the nation. There is an emphasis on youth programs 
such as the 4-H and the FFA.
The South Dakota State Fair began in 1885 and was called the "Annual Territorial Fair." This Fair moved from town to town until 1905 when it was permanently located in Huron.
There are over 1,400 campsites available for use, 60 food vendors offer their food at the fair, there is free musical entertainment located on 5 different stages during the fair and it boasts the largest carnival in South Dakota.
Today, the South Dakota State Fair remains committed to providing the best State Fair possible but it has also evolved into a State Fair Park and hosts a variety of events during the rest of the year. Such events include Team Roping, Elks Summerfest, High School Rodeo, NBHA State Finals, Quarter Horse Show, Craft Fair, Outdoor Expo, Huron Antique Power Show, Wheel Jam, Dakota Dressage Horsefest, Bold Heart Barrel Racing, State 4-H Horse Show and on and on. When ever you are in the area there will be something to do and see at the State Fair Grounds.
The South Dakota Outdoor Expo offers hands-on educational opportunities to introduce thousands of families and children to outdoor activities. There are interactive exhibits and activities teaching appreciate for conservation and outdoor recreation and preserving the outdoor recreation heritage.

In September there will be a Women’s Expo at the Fairgrounds put on by the Huron Regional Medical Center and the South Dakota State Fair. It is an opportunity for women to do some shopping, see some great fashion ideas and have some fun together. Women of all ages will enjoy interesting and interactive displays and presentations, including:
