South Dakota State Agricultural Heritage Museum - Brookings, South Dakota

sdstateagmuseum.jpgThe South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum is a great place to visit and enjoy the history of the Dakota prairie in Brookings, South Dakota.

Exhibits include tractors and farm equipment, an original 1882 homestead claim shack, and a recreated 1915 farmhouse. Abundant historic photographs enhance the understanding of South Dakota’s rural qualities.

The museum offers a variety of programs including book signings, exhibit openings, and lecture series.

The Beckman Archive is a comprehensive collection of tractor and machinery manuals. The museum has an extensive photo and graphic archive in addition to the South Dakota history library.

The museum’s holdings include information about Rammed Earth Building Construction, restricted and an appointment is mandatory.
