Lake Hiddenwood Recreation Area – Selby, South Dakota

Lake Hiddenwood Recreation Area.jpgLake Hiddenwood Recreation Area – Selby, South Dakota, traditionally, this area was home for several American Indian tribes. In 1927, the Department of Game and Fish used a new technique called an earthen dam to make Lake Hiddenwood, one of the first artificial lakes in South Dakota.

Lake Hiddenwood is situated in a small, wooded bowl and is hidden from the view of most travelers … thus its name. This park features a quiet campground, fishing (panfish) and historic picnic area. Camping, boating, fishing, and hiking are all available here. Accessible picnic shelter. Swimming at the beach is available although there is no lifeguard so you swim at your own risk.
